“A favourite getaway” We have now stayed at The Pilgrims some four times and thought it was about time I wrote the review it deserves. Jools and Sally are wonderful hosts and go the extra mile to ensure your stay is perfect and I think this is why we return again and again.

There are five well appointed, tastefully decorated ensuite bedrooms and Sally has provided each room with thoughtful room extras so you won’t need for anything, including tea and coffee making facilities (and hot chocolate and biscuits!), an umbrella and there is even room for a most welcome small seating area. The rooms are all located in the cider barn adjoining the main building with their own private entrances and this adds to the peace and privacy of your stay.

And the food.... it’s just Jools in the kitchen and he does a rather fine job of it. Where possible the food is locally sourced and this is reflected in the quality of every meal that comes out of the kitchen. The menu is well thought out and not over fussy (no ’foam’ here) and Jools provides an excellent vegetarian menu too. Portion size is very good and we only just make it to dessert.
Sally has the wine list spot on, there is a good choice of wines and at reasonable prices too.
The breakfast will not let you down either - Sally has seen to a vast array of choice and Jools cooks a mean full English, one of my favourites.

Do try Jools’ marmalade on your toast, it’s to die for :-)
In a nutshell, The Pilgrims is perfect and I imagine we will be visiting again and again.
